I’m Anthony Gold, and I’ve been very fortunate to have had great mentors and amazing colleagues over my career. All the good stuff I was able to accomplish was because of them. My goal with Anthony’s Desk is to share the lessons I’ve learned building products, teams, and companies.

I began my career designing enterprise servers for Unisys. Several of my inventions went on to become patents in the field of high-speed computer processing. I’m still amazed that one of the supercomputers I architected is in the Guinness Book of World Records. While I loved the intellectual stimulation of hardware and software development, I was particularly drawn to the strategy and leadership side of business. I had the opportunity to lead teams of people responsible for creating billions of dollars in revenue and making a huge impact on the world.

I subsequently fell in love with entrepreneurship and building companies. Along with a spectacular team, I built an Open Source startup inside of Unisys which contributed over $100M in highly profitable revenue within two years of its inception. Along with a few open source luminaries, I co-founded the Open Solutions Alliance non-profit initiative which helped drive open source into the mainstream.

I’m particularly drawn to companies and people with a social mission to make a difference. I co-founded ROAR for Good, a wearable tech company focused on empowering women and reducing assaults. There is so much work that needs to be done in that area, but I’m proud of what ROAR has started.

I am greatly appreciative to have my work featured in many publications including the Huffington Post, MTV News, Fortune, Brit+Co, Inc, Mashable, Bustle, Entrepreneur, New York Times, Fast Company, LifeHacker, and Discovery News. Selected articles here.

I was honored to deliver the commencement address at the Penn State University School of Graduate Professional Studies.

Frustrated by the slow traction of equity in the workplace, I developed a workshop on cultivating male allyship. The workshop is focused on how companies can become more aware of and better at creating more just, equitable workplaces. If you’d like to learn more on that, reach out to me here.

My lessons learned – and my desire to continually grow – form the basis of everything I write and speak about. Topics include leadership, business strategy, entrepreneurship, fundraising, social impact B-corporations, raising startup capital, successful crowdfunding, lean startup, feminism and male allies in the business environment, productivity, and self-improvement.
